As summer comes to an end, we all come to anticipate the carefully curated lineup of fall/winter TV shows, both new and returning, as our most dear companions to turn to when the sun sets at 5 PM (thanks to that blasted Daylight Savings Time). Just as much as they serve as comfort food, they also tend to be the cream of the crop dramas, thrillers, and moody little allies to the holiday period. And let us tell you, we cannot wait for the 2021 roster. Check out our most anticipated shows set to release each month this fall.

What We Do in the Shadows (FX) – 9/2

WWDITS has quickly become one of our favorite comforting fall TV shows. Bitingly funny (ha!), wickedly clever, and an incredible cast of talented actors and well-written characters (poor Guillermo!), there’s simply nothing better than curling up on the sofa to watch these undead Staten Island roommates interact and antic it up! Plus, it’s just in time for spooky season. *cue the bats*
Scenes from a Marriage (HBO Max) – 9/12

Assuredly, Scenes from a Marriage will be a tender experience for viewers. It’s a modern re-telling of Ingmar Bergman’s Swedish series of the same name. The series will follow Mira (Jessica Chastain), a working tech-exec, and her husband Jonathan (Oscar Isaac), a philosophy professor, who are navigating the beauty and pain of marriage as it relates to fulfillment, love, hate, and everything in between.

I Know What You Did Last Summer (Amazon) – 10/15

Listen up, 90s babes! What a treat we have in store for you this October. If you remember and were fond of the 1997 thriller, I Know What You Did Last Summer, brace yourself for a modern TV re-make that follows the plot of the movie: a group of teens being stalked by a mysterious killer one year after a tragic accident on graduation night. For nostalgia’s sake – count us in!
You, Season 3 (Netflix) – 10/15

Oh, you! Our favorite creepy serial killer Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgely) is back – along with his new baby, Henry. This season, we’ll see Joe wrestle with how to raise his only son to be, well, not a murderer. Who will Joe’s next obsession be? (Last we left off he became attached to a neighbor). After the show’s production wrapped, Executive Producer Sera Gamble said on her Twitter that “the episodes are fucking bonkers and the performances are insanely good.” Well, that’s all we need to know.

The Great, Season 2 (Hulu) – 11/19

The costumes, the killer performances, the zany characters, and modern-day twists on Catherine the Great’s (Elle Fanning) 18th century reign and concurrent marriage to Peter III (Nicholas Hoult) return for a second season. And rightfully so! We binged season one faster than you could say Huzzah, so it’s about due time for us to get our fill. This season will be a 10-episode installment and will follow Catherine’s pregnancy trials, tribulations, and triumphs. Long live the Queen!
The Shrink Next Door (Apple TV+) – 11/12

When we go to therapy, our therapists are supposed to teach us about setting and enforcing boundaries with others. But, what happens when our own therapist crosses the line? In this darkly comedic miniseries, Marty (a Donnas favorite, Will Ferrell) finds out just that when he meets Dr. Ike (other Donnas favorite, Paul Rudd) who, by the powers of psychological manipulation, pushes Marty’s boundaries and inserts himself into his patient’s life. Did we mention it’s based on a true story?! Yikes, we’re in.
